How to Start Homeschooling in Pennsylvania

Find your footing in how to homeschool in the state of Pennsylvania. Learners will be prepared for filing necessary documents and meeting instructional and evaluation requirements. Through short video lessons, discussion opportunities and resources, you’ll be equipped to understand and articulate PA home education law.
What You’ll Learn:
- Complete and file a homeschool affidavit and objectives
Create a portfolio
Find a qualified evaluator for the end of the school year
Know what is required instruction and record keeping for grades K–12
Respond accurately to requests from the school district
Understand Pennsylvania’s homeschool law
Instructor:Darlene Catlett, approved homeschool evaluator with 22 years of homeschooling experience
Catlett has 22 years of experience as a homeschool educator, having homeschooled her four children from kindergarten through high school graduation. She served on the Board of Directors for the Christian Homeschool Association of Pennsylvania from 2008–2012 and the Advisory Council for the Christian Home Educators Association of California from 1992–1999. Catlett has presented workshops on homeschool topics regionally and state-wide, spoken at homeschool support groups and served on education panels. She is an approved homeschool evaluator and serves families in 18 school districts throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.
Time to Complete:Learners will have 60 days from registration to complete the course. It is self-paced, with no need to be online at specific times.
